Directional Control Valves (DCV) are used to position the control rods as a part of the GE control rods drive system. DCV type 2538 fits exactly into the existing mounting configuration of the GE Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Flow control / throttle of DCV has a finer adjustment range than the original solution (14 instead of 8 turns), and can be almost fully closed. Once the flow rate is adjusted, the exact position can be firmly secured.
