Distinguished Visiting Fellowship Scheme

By Royal Academy of Engineering

The aim of the distinguished visiting fellowship scheme is to harness world-class research and teaching capability in the area of engineering through collaboration with international experts from overseas.

The scheme provides funding to enable engineering departments in UK universities to be hosts for up to a month to distinguished visiting engineering experts from overseas academic centres of excellence.

Participating organisations gain the opportunity to discover common and complementary skills/areas and initiatives that could form the foundation for future collaborations and future strategic research alliance.

The activities during the visits may include, for example:

  • Working collaboratively with universities and companies in the UK on joint papers and research proposals.
  • Delivering lectures, lecture series, presentations, seminars, demonstrations, and expert workshops to industry representatives, graduates and/or undergraduates and members of the faculty
  • Guiding the design and delivery of new modules and/or programmes
  • Establishing project consortia to work collaboratively on joint research projects

Please see the case study section for statements from companies and host universities.

The deadlines for applications are:

  • 31 May 2010
  • 31 October 2010
