Robert Gordon University - Education for the Energy Industry

Robert Gordon University is based in Aberdeen, Scotland and has been in existence as an educational institution since 1750. We are a dynamic modern university with an international reputation for providing high-quality education to the energy industry from undergraduate through PhD level to bespoke corporate programmes.

We offer a full range of energy courses spanning across all disciplines and leveraging expertise from all of the institutes' faculties and the oil and gas experts on our doorstep here in Aberdeen. Most courses are offered full-time, part-time or online.

Aberdeen Business School

The oil and gas/energy courses on offer include:

  • MSc Health, Safety and Risk Management

  • MSc Quality Management (accredited by IQA)

Energy Centre

The energy engineering courses on offer include:

  • MSc Oil and Gas Engineering
  • MSc Petroleum Production Engineering
  • MSc Drilling and Well Engineering
  • MSc Asset Integrity Management
  • MSc Subsea Engineering

All courses in the Energy Centre are accredited by the Energy Institute.

Aberdeen Business School

Aberdeen Business School is the largest faculty in the Robert Gordon University and is one of the leading providers of management and professional education in Scotland.

The school was founded in 1965. We are rated "excellent" by the UK quality assurance agency for higher education and have a very strong portfolio of courses. The school offers a large number of postgraduate courses with accreditation from the Energy Institute, CIPD, CIPS, AMBA, CIArb, CIMA, CMI, APM, PMI, IQA, Institute of Exporters and CILIP, to name a few.

Energy Centre

The Energy Centre, co-located with the School of Engineering at RGU's Schoolhill campus, was started in January 2005 and was launched at Offshore Europe 2005 by Sir Ian Wood, chairman of the Wood Group. The Energy Centre works closely with individual Schools across the university and industry to develop a portfolio of courses, which can be delivered in a number of ways: full-time, part time, online, distance and blended learning.

Potential clients for these courses include individuals who are interested in conversion to the oil and gas industry or who are pursuing further specialisation in this area to improve their career prospects.

Univation

For business-to-business initiatives, both the Energy Centre and Aberdeen Business School work closely with Univation, the commercial arm of RGU, which deals with marketing and sales for corporate clients.
