The electrical infrastructure will face great challenges with the coming energy transition to a sustainable and differentiated energy supply system. Although the existing grid is of reasonable age we believe that the introduction of advanced secondary system technology will prolong the utilisation of the current grid and shape it to become a flexible Smart Grid at acceptable cost. A visionary design will be presented that fully enables the future needs of the Smart Grid.
