juwi - Plants for Renewable Energies

juwi is one of the world's leading companies in the area of renewable energies. Since 1996, the project developer has been planning, projecting, financing and operating plants for the usage of renewable energies.

A Short Portrait of the juwi Group

Matthias Willenbacher and Fred Jung created the juwi group in 1996. They developed juwi from a two-person office to a worldwide acting company with more than 1,750 employees. juwi plans and constructs solar, wind and bio energy plants and is active in additional areas such as sustainable construction, e-mobility, hydro power or geothermal energy. juwi is among a few companies offering comprehensive, renewable energy solutions - for municipalities, businesses and individuals. juwi is also producing wood pellets and "Terra Preta", a nutrient-rich humus substrate.

Furthermore, the company offers the re-/construction of buildings with its "Green Buildings" department. juwi has been awarded with the German Solar Price in 2007, the German Climate Protection Price in 2008, the Clean Tech Media Award in 2009 and was named Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 and Greentech Manager of the Year 2009. In 2010, 2011 and 2012 juwi was among the TOP 50 in the competition "Great Place to Work".

Photovoltaic (PV)

juwi has constructed more than.1, 500 PV systems with a total output of approx. 1,000 megawatt (MW) - among them roof plants and large-scale free-field plants in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Greece and the USA. Lighthouse projects are the free-field systems in Lieberose/ Cottbus (53 MW) and Waldpolenz/ Leipzig (40 MW) located on former military areas.

The most beautiful rooftop plants are probably located on the roofs of the soccer stadium in Mainz and Verona (1.000 kW), another beacon project is the 7.5 MW rooftop plant on Goodyear Dunlop's' logistics center in Philippsburg. juwi has also constructed the largest PV plant on the African continent in the outskirts of Kigali, Ruanda, with an output of 250 kW.

Wind energy

juwi has constructed approx. 540 wind turbines in more than 90 locations with a total output of more than 950 MW - and has
established wind farms in Germany, France, Poland and Costa Rica. On the island, juwi has constructed Middle America's largest wind farm in 2009 with 55 turbines and an output of 49.5 MW. In Germany, juwi has realized several wind projects, mainly in the Southwest of the country.

Bio energy

juwi projects biogas plants, heating plants, heating networks and wood chip heating plants. In the Energy Landscape in Morbach (MEL) juwi combines different bio energy plants - an agricultural biogas plant (500 kW), a wood chip heating plant and a production plant for wood pellets with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons. Furthermore, there are 14 wind turbines and several photovoltaic plants.

juwi Provides for an Economic and Secure Usage of Renewable Energies

People setting on renewable energies are not only influenced by environmental reasons, but rational and economic reasons as well. New and improved technologies ensure that solar and wind energy systems become ever more efficient. Taking into account economic facts, the decision for renewable energies is easy.

What remains is the respect for complex and time-consuming processes, where results often cannot be foreseen at the beginning of a project. juwi solves this task - we cover the entire process chain from location search to planning, financing, implementation and management. More than 1,750 employees worldwide guarantee that projects are successful.

They offer consultation and information to customers and project partners in order to increase the portion of sun, wind and biomass in the energy market. juwi have reliable financial partners allowing for excellent credit conditions, and have long-term supply contracts with manufacturers. In many countries, the power produced by our plants is recompensed with a legally guaranteed price. All this contributes to the efficiency of our projects.

A decentralized power production and direct supply to municipalities and businesses promote their independence. An intelligent mix of different energy sources is going to be ever more important. Only the combination of different forms of renewable energies ensures a reliable supply around the clock, week for week, year by year.

juwi's Headquarters in Wörrstadt

In July 2008, juwi opened one of the world's most energy-efficient office buildings in Wörrstadt. On an area of more than 17,000 square meters, it offers ideal working conditions with outdoor facilities for sport and relaxation, a day-care center, a gym. The building has been extended twice, in 2012 a third large complex will be added to the headquarters.
