juwi is one of the word-wide leading companies in the area of renewable energies. Since 1996, the project developer has been planning, projecting, financing and operating plants for the usage of renewable energies.
Matthias Willenbacher and Fred Jung created the juwi group in 1996. Together they developed juwi from a two-man office into a world-wide company completing solar, wind and bio energy plants as well as water power and geothermic projects. The company now has approx. 1,000 employees and a sales volume of approx. €900 million (2010 projection).

Renewable energy supply
Together with a highly motivated team, Willenbacher and Jung pursue the goal of a comprehensive renewable energy supply. juwi is among a few companies offering comprehensive energy solutions on a regenerative basis - for municipalities, businesses and individuals. juwi also produces wood chip pellets and "Terra Preta", a nutrient-rich humus substrate. Furthermore, the company offers sustainable re-/ construction of buildings. For its commitment, juwi was awarded the German Solar Prize in 2007, the German Climate Protection Prize in 2008 and the Clean Tech Media Award in 2009. juwi has also been named Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 and Greentech Manager of the Year 2009. In 2010, juwi was among the top 50 in the competition "Great Place to Work".
In July 2008, juwi opened the world's most energy-efficient office building in Wörrstadt. On an area of more than 17,000sqm, it offers ideal working conditions - outdoor facilities for sport and relaxation, a daycare centre, a gym and an oratory are available for employees. The headquarters has been extended twice and now offers space for 700 employees. In a "Clean Energy & Mobility Centre" juwi is showing the future of mobility.
Photovoltaic (PV) roof plants and free-field plants
juwi has completed approx.1,400 PV systems with an output of approx. 600MW - among them are roof plants and large-scale free-field plants in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Greece and the US. Exemplary projects are the free-field plants Lieberose/ Cottbus (53MW) and Waldpolenz/ Leipzig (40MW) located on former military areas. The most beautiful roof plants are probably located on the roofs of the soccer stadium in Mainz (240kW) and Verona (1.000kW). juwi has also completed the largest PV plant on the African continent in the outskirts of Kigali, Rwanda, with an output of 250kW
Wind energy
juwi has completed approx. 400 wind turbines in more than 70 locations with a total output of more than 650MW wind farms in Germany, France, Poland and Costa Rica. juwi also constructed Middle America's largest wind farm in 2009 with 55 turbines and an output of 49, 5MW. In Germany, juwi completed several wind projects, mainly in the Southwest of the country.
Bioenergy
juwi project manages biogas plants, heating plants, heating networks and wood chip heating plants. In the energy landscape in Morbach (MEL) juwi has combined different bio energy plants - an agricultural biogas plant (500kW), a wood chip heating plant and a production plant for wood pellets with an annual capacity of 20,000t. Additionally, there are also 14 wind turbines and several photovoltaic plants.
juwi provides economic and secure usage of renewable energies
People choosing renewable energies today are influenced by not only environmental reasons, but rational and economic reasons as well. New and improved technologies ensure the increasing efficiency of solar and wind energy systems. Taking into consideration economical facts, choosing renewable energies is easy. What remains is the issue of complex and time-consuming processes, where results can often not be foreseen at the beginning of a project. juwi solves this issue by covering the entire process chain - from location search to planning, financing, implementation and management. 1,000 employees worldwide make sure that our projects are successful.
Since 1996 we have offered consultation and information to customers and project partners in order to increase the portion of sun, wind and biomass in the energy market. We have reliable financial partners allowing for excellent credit conditions, and we have long-term supply contracts with manufacturers. In many countries, the power produced by our plants is recompensed with a legally guaranteed price. All this contributes to the efficiency of our projects. The decentralised power production and direct supply to municipalities and businesses promote their independence. An intelligent mix of different energy sources is going to be of ever more important. Only the combination of different forms of renewable energies ensures a reliable supply around the clock, week for week, year by year.
