Gerdau - Specialist Steel Products

Gerdau is the leading producer of long steel in the Americas and one of the largest suppliers of special long steel in the world. It has over 40,000 employees and an industrial presence in 14 countries with operations in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, which together represent an installed capacity of over 25 million metric tons of steel per year. It is the largest recycler in Latin America and around the world it transforms millions of metric tons of scrap into steel every year. Gerdau is listed on the stock exchanges of São Paulo, New York, and Madrid and has around 140,000 shareholders.

Its products, sold on five continents, serve the civil construction, industrial and agricultural sectors. Gerdau products, in all their diverse forms, have a day-to-day presence in the lives of people. They are an integral part of the structure of homes, shopping centers, hospitals, bridges and hydroelectric plants; they are part of power and telephone lines; they are raw material for automotive parts and they can be found at work on the farm.

Gerdau Special Steels Brazil

Gerdau is currently the main supplier of the international automotive industry and the second largest world producer of special steel. Gerdau's special steel encompasses engineering steel, tool steel and stainless steel. The company's products are present in components where very high standards of quality and safety are required. Gerdau has an important position as a supplier of petrochemical sector, railway industries, and energy equipment manufacturers. Gerdau's plants are certified by ABS Quality Evaluations to attend the market's high technological demand and to follow industry's fast evolution.

Steel Mills - Brazil

The Special Steels Operations in Brazil has four industrial units strategically located. There are three in the state of São Paulo (Pindamonhangaba, Mogi das Cruzes and Sorocaba), near of the main consumer market of the country and endowed with excellent infrastructure and transportation conditions. There is another plant in Charqueadas, state of Rio Grande do Sul, close to regional markets of South of Brazil and Argentina.

With a production capacity of approximately 1.5 million tons of special steel in Brazil, Gerdau is the largest manufacturer of special steel bars and wire rod in the Latin America market.

Environmental Management System

Gerdau believes that business continuity is related to environmental performance. This concern is reflected in its daily practices, in investments for continuous upgrading of equipment and in its environmental awareness-raising programs.
Following this principle, all Gerdau plants have adopted the Environmental Management System under ISO standard 14001 and have arranged for the analysis of thousands of industrial activities. The objective is to ensure a full overview of the process, from the use of raw materials, through the industrial and product-distribution stages, to the appropriate destination for the by-products generated in the process.
