CeramTec - The Experts for Wear, Corrosion and Ballistic Protection

CeramTec-ETEC is a CeramTec subsidiary headquartered in Lohmar, Germany that offers solutions made from ALOTEC® advanced ceramics for wear and corrosion protection, ceramic armor for ballistic protection of personnel, vehicles and assets, ALOSLIDE® inrun track systems for ski jumping events and PERLUCOR® transparent ceramics.

Advanced ceramics for protection against wear and corrosion

ALOTEC® advanced ceramic is a modern material that can meet the highest requirements even under difficult conditions that involve wear, corrosion and high temperatures.

Using ALOTEC® advanced ceramics as a base CeramTec-ETEC has become one of the world's largest and most important providers of wear and corrosion protection solutions. ALOTEC® ceramic linings from CeramTec-ETEC protect wherever highly abrasive materials are required. They are used in machines and systems in steel plants, in foundries, in the mining, processing and preparation of minerals, within the paper, pulp, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, in power plants (coal, wood and solid fuels), in cement production, and in concrete production and transportation.

Material and application-specific designs make it possible to produce a variety of components with high dimensional accuracy. What's more, ALOTEC® products in the form of steel and polymer composites help to open up new areas of application all the time. CeramTec-ETEC develops, manufactures and assembles integrated system components and complete systems for different applications. Examples include cleaners/cyclones with ceramic/PU material combinations, which are significantly lighter than comparable products in ceramic/steel or pipes with ceramic linings.

ALOTEC® advanced ceramic is the basis for protecting industrial plants against wear and corrosion and offers the highest degree of hardness of all anti-wear materials used today. The high homogeneity of ALOTEC® ceramic guarantees uniform, low abrasion.

CeramTec-ETEC offers complete solutions with both its standard plates and blocks and its customer and project-specific ceramic components manufactured in various sizes, shapes and complexities and as composites with steel or polymers.

Effective anti-wear starts with design that meets the application and material requirements based on an application-specific system analysis. It takes into account all the mechanical, thermal and corrosive loads of a system.

The experts at CeramTec-ETEC use this information to develop an economical solution with material recommendations for ceramic as well as its processing and assembly. One advantage of ceramic linings is that the individual ceramic parts do not need to be adjusted on site, which is both costly and time consuming. CeramTec-ETEC can take them in their unfired state and accurately adjust them accordingly.

This CAD-based service delivers a detailed installation plan for time and cost-saving assembly, which the experts at CeramTec-ETEC also perform on request. The result is significantly lower downtime and longer maintenance and repair intervals for maximum efficiency.

Transparent PERLUCOR advanced ceramics

PERLUCOR is a highly pure material with a number of extraordinary mechanical, chemical, thermal and optical properties. With a relative transparency of over 90%, CeramTec PERLUCOR opens up new fields of application everywhere glass reaches its limits.

CeramTec GmbH has succeeded in becoming Europe's first company to manufacture highly transparent and extremely durable ceramics on a series-production scale and to transfer the advantages of ceramics to a transparent material. The result of this development is PERLUCOR: a mechanically, chemically, thermally and optically perfected solution for transparent applications in extreme conditions. In virtually every area its properties are far superior to conventional glasses.
