AHC Oberflächentechnik comprises 18 sites in Europe and 1 site in China with headquarters in Kerpen, near Cologne, Germany. AHC Group is focused on providing functional coatings for technical surfaces for the automotive and mechanical engineering markets. In-house developed processes and patents from AHC also deliver custom made protective coatings for electrical and electronic components.

AHC also offer other coatings such as MAGOXID-COAT® for magnesium surfaces, KEPLA-COAT® for aluminium and titanium materials as well as DURALLOY®, thin dense chrome coating, for materials affected by friction and vibration corrosion.

AHC Benelux with its two locations in Eindhoven and Venlo, The Netherlands, extend the range of services by a number of special anti-friction coatings, which are united under the term "Synergetic Layers", as well as processes such as nickel sulfamate plating, tin plating, silver plating and gold plating.
The leading example from the automotive industry is selective hard anodization (SELGA-COAT®) on the first annular groove of engine pistons.
Another feature is the portfolio of hard-anodised "AHC cylinder tubes" made of aluminium, which are primarily used in pneumatic industry as well as in the low-pressure hydraulics.
New is the IVD aluminium coating, done by our subsidiary Acorn Surface Technology Ltd. in Kirkby-in-Ashfield near Nottingham, UK. The IVD aluminium coating was originally developed by McDonnell Douglas as a replacement for cadmium electroplating on to steel and titanium base materials. The IVD aluminium coating is used primarily for corrosion protection in ambient to medium temperature applications. The coating can also be used to prevent bi-metallic or galvanic corrosion; an example being the use of IVD aluminium to coat titanium fasteners, which are used to fasten aluminium assemblies.

AHC has also one site in Hangzhou near Shanghai, China. The team of AHC Hangzhou provides different processes of anodisation and hard anodisation as well as electroless nickel plating of aluminium components. In addition, non-ferrous metals and ferrous materials, including stainless steels, are also treated with diverse electroless nickel processes.

For patented coatings, licenses are granted all over the world. Worldwide, together with RIAG Oberflächentechnik AG, we cover all the needs for process chemicals for electroless and electrochemical processes for the treatment of metals and plastics.
Process Technology is of great importance to the AHC group. Existing processes and applications are optimised and new opportunities are constantly being developed.
AHC consultants support their customers throughout the planning and design stages, assisting them in defining precisely the specification of their requirements as well as selecting the most suitable materials and processes.
