Green Power Incentives

Published 03 November 2010 | By Addleshaw Goddard

In 2002 the Government introduced the Renewables Obligation to incentivise the generation of electricity from renewable sources. More recently two new schemes were announced; the Feed-in Tariff Scheme (FITs) and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) designed to maximise the uptake and efficient use of low carbon technologies and help the UK meet its EU Renewables Directive target of producing 15% of all electricity consumed from renewable sources by the year 2020.
