Uzbekistan Completes Construction Of Andijan Hydroelectric Station 2 On Kampirrovot Water Reservoir In Andijan Region
Uzbekistan has completed the construction of Andijan hydroelectric station 2 on Kampirrovot water reservoir in Andijan region. The hydroelectric station 2 was developed for producing energy by using existing idle discharges potential. The long-term power production at this plant is projected to be 171.1 million kWh. The planned capacity of station 2 will constitute 50 megawatt (MW). The object construction on Andijan hydroelectric station 2 was started in July, 2006.
The total value of energy unit has exceeded UZS14 billion. The hydroelectric station 2 will be officially opened in the end of 2009. To complete the construction work quickly, constructors have worked in double shift, using modern equipment.
The hydroelectric station is planned to allow for rational and efficient usage of existing water resources. The projected capacity over 1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity will be produced per day. This new hydroelectric station has been developed to increase the stability and improve energy supply for fields, industrial enterprises, small business and private entrepreneurship subjects, and also population of rural area.
Andijan hydro system was constructed in 1980s to provide nearby lands with irrigation water. The hydro system discharges changed from estimated ones in connection with partial shifting of Toktogul hydro system (Kyrgyzstan) to energy regime, and also with change in composition of cultivated agricultural crops in Uzbekistan.
According to hydrological observation, the idle discharges cannot be used by existing hydroelectric station. The idle discharges have been increased for the previous years.
