Toll To Manage Gorgon Project’s Barrow Island Supply Base And Logistics
Toll Group (Toll), a provider of integrated logistics services, has entered into an agreement with Chevron Australia Pty Ltd (Chevron) to manage the Barrow Island supply base and logistics services contract for the Gorgon project. The contract is valued at about AUD180 million over three years. The work is expected to commence on the island after receipt of all necessary government approvals.
The commencement of the project is followed by the final investment decision on the Chevron-operated Gorgon project from the Gorgon joint venture participants, expected in the second half of 2009.
“The Toll plans to execute the scope of work of this contract through the WA based operations of Toll Energy, which specializes in providing supply chain management and logistics services to the Oil and Gas exploration, construction and production industries in Australia,” said Paul Little, Toll managing director.
“Toll intends to look at further investments and organic growth in the resources sector both in Australia and overseas. The resources business continues to be a strong performer for the Group,” Little said.
The Gorgon project is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (operator), Exxon Mobil Corporation and Royal Dutch Shell Plc, to develop the Greater Gorgon gas fields, located between 130 kilometers and 200 kilometers off the north-west coast of Western Australia. The Greater Gorgon gas fields contain resources of about 40 trillion cubic feet of gas.
