Tesco awards entire fuel distribution business to TDG
Following a nine-month selection process, European supply chain management company TDG has secured the fuel distribution contract for supermarket chain Tesco in the southwest and southeast of England.
The group now manages Tesco's entire UK fuel distribution, worth around GBP24 million per year. TDG chief David Garman commented: Tesco's decision to move to TDG as its single, third-party logistics provider confirms our approach of working closely with our customers to deliver growth and enhance their competitiveness. TDG has a longstanding relationship with Tesco, which began in 1992 when the supermarket chain first started to collect and distribute its own fuel. The company now employs nearly 300 drivers on the Tesco contract, and operates over 100 petrol tankers, all Tesco liveried, based at 20 vehicle operating centers.
