Technip Wins Contract For Connect Refining Project In Germany

EBR Staff Writer Published 04 August 2009

Technip has been awarded engineering, procurement and construction management contract by Royal Dutch Shell plc. (Shell) for the first phase of its Connect project in Germany. By connecting two existing refineries in Godorf and Wesseling, Shell will create the refinery in Germany: the Rheinland refinery. This first phase of the project will be implemented in the Wesseling refinery.

It includes the modification of process units (desulphurization and hydrogen manufacturing) as well as the construction of new facilities. The units at Wesseling will also be used for the desulphurization of gas oil produced in Godorf.

Through this investment, Shell will enhance and increase its production capacity of low sulphur gas oil.

Technip’s operating center in Düsseldorf, Germany, will execute the contract, which is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2010.
