Suzlon Lays Off 160 Employees In Pipestone, Minnesota

Suzlon Rotor Corporation (Suzlon), a manufacturer of wind turbine blades and a subsidiary of Suzlon Energy Limited, is laying off 160 people, which is half of their workforce, in the Pipestone, Minnesota. Suzlon hopes to hire back the laid off workers when the economy improves. The company said that these reductions are compulsory to remain an employer in the Pipestone community. The plant which is located in Pipestone opened up in 2006.

Suzlon Energy is a wind power generation company. Its operations include to manufacturing, designing, developing and selling of wind turbine generators and gear box. Its other operations include sale/sub-lease of land, infrastructure development income and power generation income. The company's main manufacturing plants are located at Daman, Pondicherry, Bhuj, Chhadvel (Dhule) and Vadodara.
