Petrobras begins LNG delivery to Brazilian power units

Brazilian energy company Petrobras has said that it has made the first delivery of liquefied natural gas for electricity generation in Brazil. Petrobras's 220MW Termoceara generating unit and Endesa's 346MW Termofortaleza unit have received the gas volumes.

According to the company, the Termoceara unit consumes around 1.4 million cubic meters of gas per day, while the Termofortaleza unit consumes 1.55 million cubic meters of gas per day.

The liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplied by Petrobras was regasified at Transpetro's Pecem LNG terminal in the state of Ceara. The LNG cargo was stored aboard the Golar Spirit vessel, which has been converted to store and regasify LNG aboard, said the oil company.

Petrobras said that the regasification process was carried out at Transpetro’s Pecem LNG terminal (in the state of Ceara).  The LNG cargo was stored aboard the Golar Spirit vessel, the first in the world converted to store and regasify LNG aboard. This was the first time this FSRV (Floating, Storage, and Regasification Vessel) type ship regasified LNG, claims the company.

Petrobras, an oil company, is headquartered in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and has offices and administration managers in major Brazilian cities, such as Salvador, Brasilia and São Paulo.
