OMV launches utility bill payment on Romanian forecourts

EBR Staff Writer Published 13 April 2006

Austrian oil firm OMV has introduced a service to enable consumers to pay their utility bills when they pass one of its forecourts in Romania, according to local media reports.

Romania's Daily News agency reports that OMV has sealed an agreement with HVB Bank Romania to enable loan installments to be paid at its forecourts in the country. From the middle of April 2006, the service will be available to HVB account holders in an initial 45 OMV gas stations, the agency says. The report adds that OMV is still negotiating with gas and electricity suppliers in Romania to extend the scheme. Recent analysis by Datamonitor has highlighted OMV as one of the key players in the central European forecourt market, with Romania a key battleground that is ripe for forecourt innovation.
