Calpine's 530MW Sutter Gas-Fired Power Plant Shut
US-based Calpine, a power generation company in North America, has shut operations at its Sutter natural gas-fired power plant for unplanned maintenance, reported Reuters, quoting the California Independent System Operator.
The natural gas-fired power plant has a power generation capacity of approximately 530MW. No information was provided regarding the recommencement of operations at the gas-fired power plant.
The Sutter power pant is located approximately 40 miles (65 km) north of Sacramento, near Yuba City in Sutter County. The power facility commenced its operations in 2001.
The Sutter power facility is a combined-cycle natural gas-fired plant with one 180MW steam turbine and two 175MW combustion turbines. One MW of power generated from the power plant can power around 700 homes in Northern California.
Calpine is capable of delivering approximately 24,000MW of clean, economical, reliable and fuel-efficient electricity to customers and communities in 16 states across the US and Canada. The company owns, leases and operates low-carbon, natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal power stations.
