ABB, a power and automation firm, has bagged order worth $52m to provide power products and solutions for a coal-fired power plant which is under construction in India.
The contract was received from Tata Projects, the procurement, engineering and construction contractor for the remaining work at the 2x800 megawatts (MW) Krishnapatnam thermal power plant which is located in southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The plant deploys technology on a large scale, which achieves improved power generation with low carbon emissions using high steam temperatures and pressures compared to conventional plants.
According to the contract, the company would provide integrated electrical balance of plant (eBoP) solution. The eBoP includes switchgear, transformers and protection equipment, along with a 400 kilovolts (kV) turnkey substation to facilitate power transmission from the plant.
