Canadian wind turbine manufacturer AAER has shipped the first wind turbine to be constructed at its facility in Bromont, Quebec. The 1.5MW A-1500 turbine was sold to the US Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, California.

According to the company, at the time of the turbine sale, AAER had also signed a warranty, maintenance and service agreement (WMSA) with ACCO Engineering Services, for the implementation of the project.

The WMSA will be assigned to the Marine Corps Logistics Base after commissioning. The A-1500 wind turbine will supply a portion of the energy used by the base facilities and will be commissioned in the coming weeks, dependent upon suitable local weather conditions, said the company.

Dave Gagnon, president and CEO of AAER, said: “We are pleased to have reached this development. This is the first of four turbines that will be delivered to customers in the US in early 2009, as we begin turbine production at our Bromont, Quebec facility.

“We expect to build and deliver additional turbines to customers in the US, Canada and Europe throughout 2009, as we continue to increase our production capacity.”

AAER is a wind turbine manufacturer located in Bromont, Quebec that manufactures and maintains 1 Megawatt or more wind turbines principally for the North American market. The company claims to use European technologies to ensure the performance of its turbines in various wind conditions and terrains.
