Coulomb Technologies, Inc. (Coulomb Technologies) said that Oregon’s City of Hillsboro is planning to deploy company’s ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations for plug-in and electric vehicles. The 16 charging stations will be installed in downtown Hillsboro including their new green intermodal transit facility to be built in 2009. The company’s charging stations were sold to the City of Hillsboro through their Northwest distributor Charge Northwest.
Chinese Wind Energy Association (CWEA) has reported that China intends to develop seven wind power bases in the country by 2020, China.org reported. These power bases will be set up in Jiuquan in Gansu Province, Hami in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Hebei Province, western Jilin Province, eastern Inner Mongolia, western Inner Mongolia and Jiangsu Province. Each base will have a minimum capacity of 10 gigawatts (GW). A total investment of RMB1 trillion will be required to build these bases.

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Steven Chu has announced up to $32 million in Recovery Act funding to modernize the existing hydropower infrastructure in the US, increase efficiency and reduce environmental impact. This initiative is designed to support the deployment of turbines and control technologies to increase power generation and environmental stewardship at existing non-Federal hydroelectric facilities.
RWE Innogy Receives Permission To Build 300 MW Offshore Wind Farm Tromp Binnen, Northern Holland
RWE Innogy GmbH (RWE Innogy) has received permission from the Dutch Ministry of Transport and Hydraulic Engineering to build the offshore wind farm Tromp Binnen. The wind farm is dimensioned for a capacity of 300 megawatts and is planned to be built around 75 kilometres off the coast at Callantsoog in northern Holland. According to the current state of planning, around 59 wind turbines will be installed on gravity foundations of reinforced concrete for the Tromp Binnen wind farm.

SCE Seeks Proposals For Renewable Power
Southern California Edison (SCE), a utility for renewable energy, has launched its annual call for more renewable contracts. SCE is seeking proposals for all renewable technologies in all locations. The utility is especially interested in solar generating facilities, which produce power on hot summer days that can connect to the Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project in Kern county, California, and to the Sunrise Powerlink Project of Imperial and San Diego counties.
Henan Kaifeng Receives $4.7 Million Purchase Order For Nuclear Forged Steel Valves From CGNPG
Henan Kaifeng High Pressure Valve Co., Ltd. (Henan Kaifeng), a subsidiary of China Valves Technology, Inc., has received purchase orders for nuclear forged steel valves from China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPG). The contract is valued at $4.7 million. The nuclear forged steel valves will be used for CGNPG's projects at Liaoning Hongyan River and Fujian Ningde nuclear power station. The company has to deliver 50% of the order by 2009 and must deliver the remaining orders before March 2010.
L-3 MAPPS Wins Order For Second Simulator From LHNPC
L-3 Communications MAPPS Inc. (L-3 MAPPS) has won a second simulator order for China’s Hongyanhe nuclear power plant from Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co. Ltd. (LHNPC). The second simulator is for operator training for Hongyanhe plant’s third and fourth units. Preparatory work on the simulator will start immediately, and it is expected to be in service in the spring of 2011.
